Camerata Nova
Peter John Buchan, guest conductor
ByrdLand
This concert celebrates the reign of Elizabeth the First and the time of the composer William Byrd and his contemporaries. The first half will be devoted to sacred music by Byrd, Tallis and Weelkes, while the second half will consist of secular pieces, principally taken from the book of madrigals entitled Triumphs of Oriana, compiled by Thomas Morley in honour of Queen Elizabeth. This concert returns Camerata Nova to their roots and pure a cappella Renaissance music.
